You have questions; we have answers. If you still have questions, feel free to call us at 208-378-0123

1. What is the purpose for the screening/interview?

The screening/interview process is used to determine compatibility with our pack and your dog’s temperament. Although we do our best to pre-screen your dog, you the owner, know your dog's temperament best. If you suspect, even slightly, that he/she may have a problem being in a group of active dogs, you need to share that information during the screening so additional tests can be done to insure everyone’s happiness and health. There is no charge for the screening. It can take up to 2 hours as we try to slowly integrate your dogs with the rest of the pack. We want this to be a happy and comfortable place for all dogs to have fun and relax. Therefore, all dogs go through an aggression and socialization test before coming into our care.

2. Can I tour the facility prior to bringing my dog?

Sure! We would love to show you around so you can see for yourself that this is a first-rate facility and your pet will be lovingly cared for. My wife and I are extremely proud of Emerald Street Kennels and love to show it off. Please make sure your pet is up to date on vaccinations

3. When can I drop off my dog for daycare and/ or boarding?

We understand that you have a busy schedule and want to make the most of your time away. That is why we offer very generous drop-off hours.
Daycare and boarding is available Monday – Saturday; 6 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

4. What vaccinations are required?

Proof of vaccinations is required for Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, ParaInfluenza) and Bordetella (6 months) and not have any contagious diseases. We can call your vet to have them faxed if you don't have them readily available. Cats must have FVRCPC, Leukemia and Rabies vaccinations and not have any contagious diseases.

5. What if my dog has bitten another dog or person before?

To be allowed in the daycare program, all dogs must be non-aggressive. If you would like to board your dog separately from the daycare, you will need to let us know that he/she will need to be separated from the general population prior to drop-off. They will get one-on-one playtime with a handler every 2-3 hours in our 1/3 acre play area which is segregated from all other dogs. This is called rotation. Due to the extended amount of time a handler spends with your wonderful pet one on one, there is no price reduction.

6. What form of payment do you accept?

We accept, cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, America Express and Discover.

7. What are the boarding cancellation policies?

Non holiday non-cancellations or cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled arrival will be charged a $50 fee. Please be sure to notify us if your plans change and you will not need boarding. All major holiday cancellations need to be received five days in advance of the scheduled date. This will allow us to fill the space with another deserving pet.

8. Is there a cancellation policy for daycare?

Scheduling is best but we gladly accept drop offs. However, there is a fee if you are late picking up from daycare. Your pet is more than welcome to stay the night if it's easier for you.

9. Can your dog come if they are ill or injured?

Since animals can be under additional stress when they are ill or injured, and we do not want to subject them to the additional stress, we do not accept dogs that are ill. We are capable of medicating and various other tasks for your injured pet who is under the supervision of a veterinarian. Please talk to the receptionist about your pets particular issue to see if we are capable of assisting your injured pet during his/her stay.

10. What should I bring with my dog to daycare/boarding?

The only collars allowed in daycare are snap on collars. All other collars will be removed and labeled or given back to the owner. ALWAYS leash your pet each time you come in. Your dog may not be aggressive or nervous but we do have dogs come in with unpredictable behaviors.
If you bring any personal belongings please permanently label those items and assume they can get misplaced. We do our best not to lose an item but it does happen, in these cases we will not be responsible for any lost items.
For daycare we do not provide meals, however if you would like to bring one in from home we will be more than happy to give it to them in a condo.
If your pet is boarding we do have house food, science diet sensitive stomach. We recommend not switching your pet’s diet to avoid any gastrointestinal upset. Some customers place their pet’s food in a container or in ziplock bags for each meal. Just let us know how much and how often your pet eats if they will be getting house food.

11. What if there is an emergency while my pet is at E.S.K.?

In the event of an emergency we will take your pet to our house veterinarian. We work with All Pet Complex, River City Veterinarian, All Valley Emerald, PetsFirst and Westvet.
The rules of registration are for the safety and protection of all dogs who attend our daycare. Our priority is the health and safety of all daycare participants. Please respect these rules and be mindful of your dog's health condition. If your dog exhibits signs of a communicable illness, they will be quarantined and you will be asked to pick them up immediately.
