About Emerald Street Kennels

Emerald Street Kennels is proudly owned and operated by Wendy and James Jackson, who became owners in October 2025. While this is their first business in the pet care industry, their journey to kennel ownership was guided by a lifelong love for animals and a deep desire to make a difference.

Before entering this industry, Wendy and James worked in property management and the mail industry, where they were often exposed to heartbreaking situations involving neglected animals-especially dogs. Those experiences stayed with them and ultimately planted the seed for what would become their next chapter. Originally, they planned to purchase a business during retirement, but when the opportunity to acquire Emerald Street Kennels presented itself sooner than expected, everything simply fell into place.

They immediately fell in love with the location, the size of the facility, and the potential to create a safe, welcoming space for animals. Most importantly, they loved the dogs-and that made the decision easy. While the business needed some care and updates, Wendy and James embraced the opportunity to put their own heart and vision into the kennel, transforming it into a place that reflects their values and passion.

Emerald Street Kennels cares primarily for dogs and cats, with the occasional bunny welcomed as well. The team is proudly family-oriented, made up largely of family-oriented people who share a genuine love for animals. Every member of the staff is emotionally invested in the wellbeing of the pets in their care, treating them like family-not just guests.

Giving back is a core part of who we are. Emerald Street Kennels is actively involved with local rescue organizations and offers discounted services for rescue animals, helping foster care efforts and supporting the mission to give every animal a second chance at a loving home.
